Meet The Team
We are year four students from The University of Hong Kong (HKU). This is our research project, under the supervision of Dr Lisa Lim (also see LinguisticMinorities.HK), in Cultural Dimensions of Language and Communication (LCOM3001), which is a course offered by the Language and Communication (LCOM) Program, School of English, Faculty of Arts, during semester two of 2015/16.
Candy C. M. Lee
BA & BEd student, HKU
Specialization: LCOM
Minor: French
Cantonese (L1), English (L2) and Mandarin (L3) are the languages that she speaks. She also learns français at HKU.
Candy K. P. Lee

Specialization: LCOM
Minor: Happy eating study
Candy grew up speaking Cantonese (L1) and English (L2). She is also fluent in Mandarin, and understands a certain degree of Shanghainese. From the paintings of Fine Arts, she acquires a bit of Spanish and Latin. She watches French movies and learns the language from them. Last but not least, she knows Japanese, and learned a bit of Irish during her stay in Dublin, Ireland.
Michelle L. S. Lai

First minor: General Linguistics
Second minor: Spanish
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Michelle's L1 is Cantonese. English and Mandarin, which she has been learning since she was born, are her L2s. She also speaks Shanghainese because of her family background. Additionally, she knows español (intermediate proficiency), she LOVES this language! Lastly, when she stayed in Dublin, Ireland, for half a year, she had French classes and acquired a bit of Irish.

Cantonese is Nicole's L1, whereas her L2s are English and Mandarin. Due to her family background, she also knows Hokkien.
