AFTER ALL, WHAT DO WE HOPE?

LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY

We would like to see multilingualism in Hong Kong, and would love to hear different languages (including the minoring ones) to be spoken in Hong Kong, echoing United Nations' International Mother Language Day. Without doubt, these languages and cultures should be highly respected.

MORE SHANGHAINESE

Despite the obstacles, and

Shanghainese being one of the minority languages in Hong Kong, we try to raise awareness of speaking, promoting and preserving this language. In Shanghainese families with language shift, we hope that it can be maintained across generations. It would be a pity if it became critically endangered or extinct in the future because of the phenomenon of language shift. We propose some methods in the previous page in order to cope with the shift.

LINGUISTIC MINORITIES

We advocate more attention to linguistic minorities, including the Shanghainese community, in Hong Kong. These minorities have their valuable languages and cultures that are to be explored and appreciated. Let's pay more attention to our city in daily life!
